The evolution continues with Polina Lapkovskaya (bass)
and Tom Wu (drums) joining iconic figure Hans
Platzgumer (HP Zinker, Die Goldenen Zitronen, Queen of
Japan and others). “Convertible 3” infuses deep
psychedelic soundscapes and a more upfront energy with
the complex songwriting and outstanding production
found on CONVERTIBLE´s first two albums. “Frailty of
Win – Strength of Defeat” (2006, monkey.) was referred
to as the band´s “St. Peppers Album”. With the release
of “Convertible 3” in October 2007 we arrive at the the
obvious next step: the band´s “White Album”.
“Convertible 3” is the sum of the whole to date. Leaving
the digital aside to rely on pure band recordings and
occasionally repairing with lyricist Hannah MacKenna,
these songs – ranging from massive psychedelic sound
walls to groove and harmony based screamers to tender
songs with delicate strings – unite raw production and
dynamic craftsmanship. “Convertible 3” is a
genre-evading and addictive collection of songs that
plays like a classic album while consistently pressing
and redefining the boundaries of guitar pop-music.

Before splitting in 1994, Austro-American Grunge-Icons HP Zinker had achieved cult-status all over the indie-world. They released on such labels as Matador, Thrill Jockey and Roughneck (Domino´s predecessor), were nominated for a Grammy and shared stages worldwide with the likes of Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Lemonheads and Ween on countless tours.
